WHO AM I?
The Short Story
My name is George Idle, I am a freelance Graphic designer, from North Yorkshire in the UK. I specialise in designing logos and creating visual identities for brands. I’ve had a love for all things design from a young age and have found a way to turn that passion into a full time job as a brand designer.
The Long Story
I’ve had a love for art and design from a young age and I’ve always known I wanted to do something creative as a career.
I think the journey to me becoming a Graphic Designer started whilst studying for my A-Levels. I was always interested more in the creative subjects and I had wanted to get into architecture so was basing my early education around getting into university to get a degree.
Just before I was due to take the final exams however, Covid happened. Instead of actually sitting the exams, everyone was given their predicted grades. All my grades were good apart from my Maths. I needed a decent Maths grade to get into an Architecture course so that plan was a little bit ruined. It was a blessing though, because I realised I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed doing Architecture anyway and that Graphic Design was what I really wanted to do. So after taking a gap year to figure all that out, off to Uni I went to do a Graphic Design degree.
I quickly found out I didn’t really want to be in full time education for three more years, I wanted to start working asap. It didn’t feel worth it to me and I thought I could save money by teaching myself and start my dream of working as a freelance designer at the same time. So I quit and decided to get a part time job and start building George Idle Design.
Flash forward a few years, and here I am working full time on Idle Design Co as a freelance brand designer, always learning new things, building intentional brands and working with some amazing people along the way.
